Game-Changing Automation for a Former NFL Player
By Crystal Watts | Posted September 1, 2014With football season upon us, it felt like a great time to share one of our favorite and most recent home automation projects.
This former NFL player has a home that anyone would envy—his 17,000 square foot pad is stacked from top to bottom with the latest and greatest in automated features. But the one area that creates the most buzz is his custom, state-of-the-art gymnasium. This court is beyond cool and is filled with multimedia. Press the "BBALL" button on one of the touch screens or a keypad on the wall, and you'll hear Michael Jordan’s voice over the speakers: “You want a piece of me? C’mon!” Meanwhile, high-adrenaline music starts pumping and the TVs are awakened. It’s a super-charged moment straight out of the beginning of a pro sports game—something this owner is very familiar with.
Aside from the kickin' court, the entire basement is a true man cave dream; featuring a bar, a theater, a workout room, a gym, a trophy room, and a casino. When the owner wants to host a Super Bowl party or huddle in a group to watch the fights, he simply hits the "ALL ON" button and the theater comes to life. In the exercise room, he can simultaneously watch ESPN and listen to his music. There’s also a golf simulator tied to the Control4 system.
