Shanan Carney

My name is: Shanan C.
What I do: Use words, pictures, and video to communicate Control4 to the masses.
Why I do what I do: I get to meet great people and travel to amazing places.
If I didn’t do what I do, I’d do this instead: Learn how to design and sew clothes. Or how to speak Japanese. Or apprentice for the interior designer of Mandarin Oriental hotels.
What makes me tick: I drink my coffee with butter and MCT oil.
What makes me “talk”: Almost anything, unfortunately.
I geek out about: Biohacking health. And eye make-up.
I want the world to know: As human beings, we have the ability to choose to see what we all have in common—or what we don't. And while I practice the art of everyday kindness and compassion, I've by no means mastered it yet.

And if you're impressed by such a man cave, just wait until you see the fan cave we captured and documented near Chicago!

So what is home automation, anyway? And how might one explain Control4’s approach to the concept of “whole home control” in two minutes—or even less. With the possibilities as endless as the sea, we thought we'd tackle the complexities of what “one remote” (or smartphone, tablet, etc.) can do with the most basic animation of all…

With three kids, three dogs, and a successful property development company to manage, Nassau residents John and Ghandi Kane, had a one-word vision when it came to designing their 10,000 sq foot home – usability. “We tried to design every inch of it to reflect us as a family,” Ghandi, a seventh generation Bahamian, says. And that's where Control4 fits in...

Shades of Grey Control

October 22, 2012

My reference point both for "grey" and "control" come not from a best-selling novel from 2011 (one of these days I suppose I should read it?) but instead from a visit I made earlier this last year to none other than New York City.
